SUPPLY TEACHING (PRIMARY SCHOOL)
Pinnacle Academic College (PAC) is seeking enthusiastic and skilled Supply Teachers who:

Demonstrate excellence in teaching and education

Have a strong knowledge in the areas of pedagogy, the Australian Curriculum, differentiation, working with students who possess a variety of abilities and aptitudes, Distance Education, evaluation and using ICT to enhance learning

Demonstrate high level written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to work constructively with students, parents, teachers and staff

Demonstrate a capacity to develop a climate of trust with colleagues, students and parents

SELECTION CRITERIA – TEACHER AIDE (PRIMARY SCHOOL)

Good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents/guardians, and teachers on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.

Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, where these have been implemented.
-
Good organisational skills that assist in the delivery and development of effective educational programs to students and subsequent feedback to teachers.
-
Ability to assist teachers in implementing educational programs, including special education.
-
Good administrative skills that assist in the recording and storing of student information, together with competent ICT skills.
-
Experience and an understanding of Auslan (Australian Sign Language).
TEACHER AIDE (PRIMARY SCHOOL) POSITION DESCRIPTION
Permanent, term-time, Monday to Friday (8:30am – 3:00pm, to commence as soon as possible (in line with notice requirements of the successful candidate)
A Teacher Aide is appointed by the Principal and operates within the parameters as defined within the Employee Handbook set by the School Board.
Position Purpose
The role of the Teacher Aide is to provide quality and timely educational service and care for students by assisting and supporting teachers with the management and enhancement of student learning. The Teacher Aide will comply with all Pinnacle Academic (PAC) policies and procedures.
Position Requirements

Certificate III in School Based Education Support and/or relevant experience working as a Teacher Aide

Implement College policies with regard to Workplace Health and Safety compliance obligations

An understanding of primary age students and working with students who possess a variety of abilities and attitudes

Current First Aid/CPR certificate
Position Responsibilities
Key Responsibility 1: Support for students with diverse learning needs contributing to a safe and supportive learning environment
Duties
-
Work closely with the Teacher regarding the students requiring support
-
Work in class with small groups and/or with individual students
-
Provide effective supervision of students under the guidance of the Teacher
-
Contribute to the pastoral care of students
-
Assist in the provision of educational activities under the direction of the Teacher
-
Develop and implement curriculum adjustments and support strategies such as note taking for students, scaffolding of tasks, etc.
-
Assist in the preparation of teaching resources, as required
-
Maintain anecdotal records on students for use in receiving student development
-
Advocate for students and assist with the development of social and emotional skills
-
Maintain confidentiality of student information and uphold the integrity of each student
-
Ensure data is entered with regard to timelines for NCCD requirements.
Key Responsibility 2: Professional Relationships – Foster and develop appropriate professional relationships with staff, parents, carers and the wider College community
Duties

Build a working relationship and rapport with the Teachers and Case Managers

Engage the wider community, where appropriate, in learning programs
-
Support, as appropriate, the involvement of the College in key events and celebrations

Behave with integrity in the course of their employment

Behave in a lawful and professional manner

Act with compassion, care and diligence
-
Ensuring the highest standards of ethical behaviour when interacting with colleagues, students and their families, and the wider community, including when using, commenting and posting on social media platforms

Contribute to the currency and accuracy of the Student Management System as it applies to their students.
Key Responsibility 3: Professional Learning – Commit to maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills, and participate in the School renewal process
Duties
-
Maintain and demonstrate knowledge of relevant contemporary pedagogy and learning needs as necessary for the role

Regularly engage in collaborative process to share knowledge and approaches with colleagues.
Key Responsibility 4: Other Responsibilities
Duties
-
Administrative duties required, including data entry, assistance with assessment tasks, checking and responding to emails in a timely manner, etc.

Support teaching staff on playground duty, if required
-
Attend Staff Meetings, when required
-
Carry out all other duties and/or tasks as directed from time to time by Teaching Staff and the Principal.
Organisational Relationship/Extent of Authority
This position reports to the Principal but is responsible to the Teaching Staff.
Workplace Health and Safety Responsibilities
The College is bound by the provisions of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (QLD), which provides the legislative framework for workplace safety in Queensland. It is the responsibility of each employee to be familiar with the College’s policies and procedure associated therewith.
